Innovative QR Code Application Enhances Examination Security in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram – The Kerala government’s General Education Department, through its technology arm, KITE, has unveiled a cutting-edge QR code-based mobile application aimed at bolstering security, transparency, and precision in the administration of Higher Secondary examinations across the state, officials announced on Sunday. KITE introduces a digital security system for Higher Secondary School exams in Kerala
Named ‘KITE-QTrack’, this application has been meticulously developed to facilitate real-time tracking and oversight of the entire examination process, officials disclosed.
The tracking system initiates from the moment question paper packets are opened at the examination centers, extending through to the dispatch of answer scripts to evaluation camps, as stated by KITE, with the Higher Secondary examinations set to commence on March 5.
KITE officials indicated that a directive has been disseminated to all Chief and Deputy Chief Superintendents, mandating the installation of the ‘KITE-QTrack’ app from the Android Play Store, with a login deadline established for March 4.
KITE’s CEO, K Anvar Sadath, emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader endeavor to overhaul the examination framework, transitioning to a fully automated system encompassing every facet—from admissions to result announcements.
“Post-examination services, including the issuance of duplicate certificates, re-evaluations, and scrutiny applications, will transition to this integrated digital platform.
Furthermore, secure online payment options will enable students to submit all applications through this streamlined digital system,” he elaborated.
Officials from KITE detailed that updates must be registered at each phase on examination days, employing designated buttons in the application, commencing from the extraction of question paper packets from storage.
Should an erroneous subject packet be scanned, an error notification will be generated, with the incident reported instantaneously to the examination wing, officials confirmed.
It is imperative to log both the commencement and completion status of examinations within strict timelines. Specific logins have been allocated for all Higher Secondary Regional Deputy Directors to supervise the process at the state level, officials elaborated.
KITE’s statement underscored that crucial details such as track ID, weight, and dispatch timing must be recorded within the app when forwarding answer scripts to evaluation camps.
The application also empowers immediate reporting of any irregularities or technical challenges encountered during examinations.

Accompanying the circular, a user guide has been distributed, and a video tutorial can be accessed on the KITE VICTERS YouTube channel, according to the announcement.
Online training sessions for the relevant officials are scheduled to commence at the district level starting tomorrow, officials added.
