Ragini Das: From Rejection to Leadership at Google
Google has appointed Ragini Das as the Head of Google for Startups in India. Announcing this milestone via her LinkedIn profile, Ragini reflected on her career journey, characterizing it as a “full-circle moment.”
Her professional path began in 2013 when she sought employment with Google and Zomato, ultimately being declined by the former and subsequently joining the latter.
In her announcement, Ragini expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Life has come full circle, and I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Google as Head of Google for Startups – India.”
Ragini’s tenure at Zomato spanned six years, during which she assumed various responsibilities, including roles in international expansion, sales, and growth strategies.
Her experiences there not only crystallized her career aspirations but also forged enduring friendships and imparted invaluable lessons, all of which later inspired the establishment of Leap. club.
A Closer Look at Ragini Das
Originating from Gurugram, Ragini attended Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai, where she held the position of Cultural Secretary before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Lancaster University.
In 2020, she co-founded Leap. club, a platform dedicated to empowering women in their professional journeys. She noted that the initiative earned her recognition while simultaneously transforming the lives of countless women.
Earlier this year, Leap. The club suspended operations, allowing Ragini ample time to concentrate on personal endeavors and new initiatives. In her new capacity at Google, she will work to bolster startups across India, having previously also contributed to the Trident Group India.
Ragini embarked on her career with internships at Standard Chartered Bank and Aludecor, and over the years, she ascended through numerous roles, from Sales Leader to Product Manager across various firms.
Additionally, Ragini serves as the Chair of FICCI’s Startup Committee for Women, championing greater visibility and funding avenues for women-led enterprises.
Her career commenced in 2012 at Trident Group India as a Frontline Entrepreneur specializing in domestic marketing.

She quickly advanced to oversee marketing operations in Europe and the United States, managing accounts related to home textiles and hotel clients, while also coordinating closely with production and logistics teams.
In 2013, Ragini joined Zomato as a Sales and Marketing Manager. Her journey there saw her evolve into several roles, including Key Account Manager and Area Sales Manager.
By 2017, Ragini joined the founding team of Zomato Gold, where she spearheaded initiatives in user growth, engagement, retention, and product marketing.
Notably, she played a pivotal role in the launch of Zomato Gold in ten international markets, including Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Qatar, and Lebanon.
