In a significant boost for the ‘Make in India’ initiative and production-linked incentive (PLI) frameworks, tech behemoth Apple has reportedly recorded iPhone exports exceeding $10 billion, equivalent to over ₹88,500 crore, from India during the April-September window of the current fiscal year, as per industry analyses.
This marks an impressive 75% escalation in iPhone exports from India in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (FY25), according to estimations.
“Made in Bharat. Trusted globally,” asserted IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a post on X on Wednesday.
Industry statistics reveal that Apple dispatched iPhones valued at $1.25 billion in September alone, a remarkable increase from the $490 million exported in the same month last year.
Moreover, spurred by Apple’s momentum, India’s smartphone exports surged past ₹1 lakh crore in value within the first five months of FY26, establishing a new milestone, according to industry projections.
This figure reflects a 55% rise from ₹64,500 crore during the comparable timeframe of the preceding fiscal (FY25).
The PLI scheme has emboldened the American tech giant to relocate its manufacturing prowess to India. Apple has augmented its production activities in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, capitalizing on the PLI framework while remaining shielded against potential tariff hikes.
Furthermore, the iPhone manufacturer has concentrated a substantial portion of its export capacity in India to cater predominantly to the U.S. market.
Notably, shipments of iPhones from India to the U.S. have surged, with 78% of locally assembled iPhones exported there in the first half of 2025—an increase from 53% the previous year.
Together with China and Vietnam, India has emerged as a pivotal player in global electronics manufacturing, as companies pivot their production strategies to diversify supply chains.
Looking ahead, Apple is poised to attain its highest festive sales figures in India, with analysts projecting a robust 28% year-on-year sales growth in 2025, attributed to the promising launch of the iPhone 17 series.
The tech giant unveiled the iPhone 17 on September 9, boasting an advanced Center Stage front camera, a 48MP Fusion Main camera with optical quality 2x Telephoto, and a pioneering 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide camera that captures expansive vistas and intricate macro photography with enhanced detail.
The device features a larger and brighter 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, as claimed by the company.
Enhanced durability is offered through the new Ceramic Shield 2, which reportedly exhibits threefold superior scratch resistance compared to its predecessor and diminished glare. The smartphone is powered by the cutting-edge A19 chip, promising superior performance and longevity.
