IBM has unveiled an ambitious initiative designed to equip 5 million young individuals in India with specialized skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and quantum computing by 2030.
Delivered through the IBM SkillsBuild platform, this program seeks to forge a workforce that is ready for the future by granting students and adult learners essential access to transformative technologies that are redefining the global economic landscape.
To actualize this vision, IBM intends to integrate cutting-edge technology education into schools, universities, and vocational training environments.
A pivotal aspect of this endeavor includes a strategic alliance with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This partnership will emphasize embedding AI education within current academic structures, training educators, and providing practical experiences.

Arvind Krishna, the Chairman and CEO of IBM, has underscored that India holds a uniquely advantageous position to spearhead the next wave of global innovation.

Our commitment to skill five million individuals represents an investment in that future,” stated Krishna.
Moreover, the initiative aims to prepare school-level students as well. IBM is collaborating in the development of a distinct AI curriculum tailored for senior secondary students, complemented by an array of resources such as an AI Project Cookbook and a Teacher Handbook.
These instruments are crafted to instill principles of “responsible AI” and computational thinking, ensuring that the forthcoming generation comprehends both the capabilities and ethical dimensions of the tools they will employ. IBM’s global mission is to train 30 million individuals by the year 2030.
