The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center (GACTC) has recently procured an Anatomage Table, a sophisticated device that offers a life-sized, interactive model of the human body, thus enabling students to experience human dissection without the requirement of a cadaver, as noted by Executive Director Nicole Zernick.
This advanced table allows students to engage in a variety of medical procedures using impeccably accurate male and female cadaver representations, which model essential bodily systems, including skeletal, nervous, and vascular frameworks.
These functionalities are designed to “augment the educational experience and promote an in-depth understanding of medical topics,” per information shared on the Anatomage website.
Zernick elaborated that school officials had aspired to invest in such innovative technology for several years, ultimately securing the $90,000 device through the latest round of state Supplemental Equipment Grant funding.
The GACTC faculty expressed palpable enthusiasm regarding the introduction of this cutting-edge apparatus, anticipating that it will enhance the already flourishing Health and Medical Science curriculum, according to Zernick.
The table has been installed within the GACTC facility and is slated for student utilization beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. “We are elated to introduce this level of innovation to our medical programs,” Zernick stated. “Our commitment to providing state-of-the-art resources ensures hands-on, career-prepared education for our students.”
Additionally, GACTC is on the lookout for a qualified individual to fill a full-time teaching position within the Health and Medical Science program.
