Grand Opening of the Opportunity Hub in Wilmington, Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As the labor market in the region evolves at breakneck speed, necessitating new skills, fluctuating wages, and intensified competition for consistent employment, Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County has responded decisively with the unveiling of its newly restructured Opportunity Hub.

The inauguration is scheduled for Monday, December 15, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at The Goodwill Center, located at 300 E. Lea Blvd. in Wilmington.

This contemporary adaptation of the former Job Resource Center aims to provide residents with tailored guidance, state-of-the-art digital career tools—incorporating AI—and a more transparent route toward improved job prospects and fulfilling careers.

Key political figures, including U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE), U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), and U.S. Representative Sarah McBride (D-DE), will attend the grand-opening ceremony, highlighting the immediate need for accessible and impactful workforce mobility services in the region.

Designed to replace the previous Job Resource Center, the Opportunity Hub boasts an environment centered on empowerment and clarity.

It offers individualized career navigation, skills assessments, direct connections to training programs and employers, as well as technology that delineates how experience translates into more lucrative roles.

Whether individuals are seeking their first job, contemplating a career switch, or pursuing advancement, the Hub provides a structured and supportive pathway for those ready to embrace their next chapter.

“This launch is arriving at precisely the right juncture,” remarked Colleen Morrone, President & CEO of Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County.

“Individuals are maneuvering through a labor market undergoing substantial transformation, requiring tools that are rapid, relevant, and user-friendly, supplemented by personal assistance to navigate the complexities of a fluctuating workforce. The Opportunity Hub is engineered to fulfill this demand from its inception.”

At the heart of the Opportunity Hub is the Goodwill Opportunity Accelerator®, a comprehensive three-phase framework encompassing Assess & Plan, Equip & Connect, and Launch & Evaluate.

This model enables individuals to identify their strengths, acquire new skills, and receive continuous support as they pursue meaningful employment.

Job seekers can also utilize Goodwill Staffing Services, which facilitates connections with employers across diverse industries.

Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County, Inc. has secured a grant of $1,128,000 from the U.S. Department of Labor for community projects.

The total expenditure for Goodwill Connect and the Opportunity Hub’s redesign amounted to $491,580, of which $378,010 (77%) was sourced from the federal grant, while Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County covered the remaining $113,570 (23%).

Innovative Digital Tools Expanding Access

The organization will also showcase its digital platform, Goodwill Connect, which serves as a conduit to resources both within and beyond the Opportunity Hub.

Through this platform, users can undertake assessments, explore training programs—including the Google AI Essentials and Google AI Prompting courses—and access vital community resources via any internet-enabled device or through Goodwill Connect kiosks stationed in Delaware Goodwill stores.

A notable addition announced during the grand opening is the integration of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and Cleveland’s Occupational Mobility Explorer into the Goodwill Connect platform.

This tool empowers job seekers to investigate wage potentials across occupations, recognize transferable skills, and identify practical career transitions informed by regional labor-market data.

This enhancement works in concert with the in-person support offered by Career Navigators, bolstering the Hub’s capacity to guide individuals toward higher-paying employment opportunities.

“In today’s economic climate, individuals require multifaceted avenues to opportunity,” Morrone expressed. The Opportunity Hub serves as a welcoming, accessible venue for support, while our digital resources ensure that assistance is available anytime, anywhere.
