A former employee of Microsoft, who transitioned to the Indian startup Sarvam, has recounted a touching narrative regarding his parents’ initial reservations, which ultimately evolved into immense pride following the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The event showcased homegrown technology that garnered international acclaim.
In a post on X, Harveen Singh Chadha, the ex-Microsoft employee, articulated his parents’ anxiety about his decision to leave the tech giant.
“Ten months ago, my parents were dissatisfied with my choice to depart from MS,” Chadha conveyed on the platform.
“Today, upon my arrival, they were all smiles,” he elaborated, highlighting his parents’ newfound pride.
“My dad proudly showcased recordings from news channels and articles that mentioned Sarvam,” he continued.
“My mother shared how she promoted Sarvam in various WhatsApp groups and to our neighbors,” Chadha remarked.
“This may seem a modest victory, but there exists a long journey ahead,” the former employee concluded.
Public Enthusiasm for Chadha’s Success
As of the current moment, Chadha’s post has reached over 50,000 views, accruing nearly 3,000 likes.
Social media users expressed their congratulations to Chadha, wishing him success in his endeavors.

Sarvam in the Limelight at the AI Summit
Founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, the Bengaluru-based Sarvam unveiled a new array of large language models during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, namely the Sarvam 30B and Sarvam 105B, tailored to accommodate India’s myriad languages and cultural nuances.
The company also demonstrated an AI assistant functioning on a Nokia-like brick phone without internet connectivity.
This system, termed Sarvam Edge, is designed to operate directly on devices, bypassing the need for distant data centers.
Through this innovative platform, the company aims to deliver services such as speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech capabilities in regions with limited or nonexistent connectivity.
