Epic Games Delays Fortnite Relaunch for iOS Users in Brazil
Epic Games has once again delayed the anticipated relaunch of Fortnite for iPhone and iPad users in Brazil, attributing the postponement to ongoing discussions between Apple and the country’s competition authority, CADE. The new launch timeline has been set for October.
The Game’s Return Was Initially Scheduled for July
In March, Epic Games heralded the announcement that Fortnite would make its return to iOS in Brazil in July via the Epic Games Store, following a pivotal ruling by the nation’s market regulator, which deemed Apple’s anti-steering policy illegal.

At that juncture, the Brazilian regulatory body had secured a decree mandating that Apple permit alternative app distribution and third-party payment access.
However, in July, Brazil’s federal court effectively recalibrated Apple’s compliance timeline, prompting Epic to reschedule the launch for August 21.
With the revised deadline now approaching, Epic has revealed yet another delay. According to an update on the official Fortnite Brasil account on X, the launch is now set for October.
This new timeline arises from CADE reportedly entering into subsequent negotiations with Apple, granting the tech giant additional time to adhere to the stipulated changes.
Fortnite Brasil’s post on X (via MacMagazine) addressed the postponement and included pointed remarks directed at Apple:
O lançamento do Fortnite e da Epic Games Store no Brasil foi adiado de agosto para outubro.
O CADE (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica) iniciou negociações com a Apple, e adiou o prazo para a empresa se adequar às medidas provisórias. Torcemos para que o CADE consiga… https://t.co/17LMCZ9IA3

The launch of Fortnite and the Epic Games Store in Brazil has been postponed from August to October.
CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) commenced negotiations with Apple and extended the deadline for the company to comply with provisional measures. We hope that CADE can ensure Brazilian consumers and developers enjoy similar freedoms to those of U.S. users, thanks to the court ruling allowing developers to direct customers outside their apps for transactions, alongside the benefits afforded by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in Europe.
We also hope this presents a chance for Apple to cease hindering those desiring to transact directly—without exorbitant fees, misleading notifications, or discriminatory practices.
This latest development surfaces amidst Epic Games’ navigation through a myriad of mixed, yet largely favorable, regulatory outcomes in the U.S., European Union, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
