Google is progressing towards revolutionizing online shopping into a more conversational experience. The tech giant has commenced the deployment of advanced AI-driven tools across its Search platform and the Gemini application within the United States.
These innovations are designed to facilitate a seamless transition from product inquiries to purchase decisions, eliminating the need to switch between tabs or navigate through protracted menus.
Enhanced Shopping Experience via Search
Google is transforming online shopping with new AI tools that facilitate decision-making from simple searches.
In a significant upgrade, Google has integrated its AI Mode in Search, combining Gemini models with the Shopping Graph. This configuration empowers users to shop by formulating everyday queries rather than inputting short phrases or managing multiple filters.
Vidhya Srinivasan, Google’s VP and GM of Ads & Commerce, noted that users are now formulating substantially longer queries in AI Mode, signaling a rapid shift towards conversational shopping.
The system intelligently tailors responses based on the nature of the inquiry. For example, visual prompts yield shoppable image grids, while comparison inquiries generate organized tables that delineate specifications, ingredients, textures, and reviewer insights.
Google aggregates this data from over 50 billion product listings, with a staggering two billion entries refreshed every hour.
AI Tools in the Gemini App
The Gemini app has evolved into a planning hub for consumers. Users may seek suggestions tailored to a specific budget and instantly receive product recommendations, comparison charts, and purchase links. This functionality is exclusively available to U.S. users aged 18 and above who have personal accounts.
Moreover, Google is introducing an automated price tracking mechanism through its innovative agentic checkout system.
Consumers can establish parameters for desired items, and Google will monitor price fluctuations, sending notifications or completing purchases upon approval, contingent upon retailer support for Google Pay. Early collaborators include Wayfair, Chewy, Quince, and select Shopify outlets.
AI Engages Local Retailers

Additionally, Google is initiating a feature designed to interface with local retailers on users’ behalf. When searching for items “near me,” users may encounter a “Let Google call” option.
This system leverages an enhanced Duplex-Gemini integration to ascertain stock availability and pricing, subsequently relaying a summarized response.
