Wide-ranging Free Initiative
The government has responded by broadening access to AI training programs via an upgraded AI Skills Hub.
Adults throughout the UK can now engage in concise, task-oriented courses that focus on practical applications such as document drafting, content generation, and automating administrative chores.
This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with leading tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and IBM. According to Sky News, over one million courses have been completed since last summer.
Participants who successfully complete these modules will be awarded a government-endorsed AI foundations badge, aimed at demonstrating basic competency to potential employers.
Ambitious 10 Million Target
Technology Secretary Liz Kendall has positioned this endeavor as both an economic and social imperative.
“Our objective is to harness AI for the benefit of Britain, which inherently necessitates a workforce adept in AI capabilities,” she stated. “We are launching an ambitious initiative to upskill ten million workers in AI by 2030.”

Zunera Diwan, founder of Money Circuit, related a pivotal transformation in her perspective. “Initially, I approached it with skepticism and treated it merely as an advanced search tool,” she noted.
“Now, I leverage AI for invoicing, contract management, and policy development. It has conserved four to five hours per week, allowing me to focus on expanding the business or attending to my personal well-being.”
