AWS Integrates Continuum for Code Vulnerability into Developer Workflows

AWS is seamlessly infusing its AI-driven security platform, Continuum, for code vulnerability directly into the environments where developers generate code—specifically within Anthropic Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and AWS Kiro.

Sepehr Noorizadeh, President of Bizcloud Experts and collaborator with AWS and Anthropic, noted that developers can now employ these integrations to detect vulnerabilities, validate, and remediate—all within their pre-existing AWS frameworks.

“It’s about providing enterprise-grade security measures and governance that customers recognize and ensuring appropriate access controls,” explained Noorizadeh.

AWS Continuum for code vulnerabilities excels in identifying vulnerabilities, prioritizing them within the business context, validating them in a secure environment, and enabling rapid remediation.

AWS characterizes Continuum as an agent-team loop architecture—an orchestration layer that selects an appropriate model for each task while maintaining connections within a client’s account.

How Continuum Functions with OpenAI Codex, Kiro, and Anthropic Claude Code

Within the coding frameworks of Claude Code, Codex, and Kiro, on-demand vulnerability scans promptly identify issues and convey findings to Continuum.

Continuum then assesses the vulnerabilities against the backdrop of the customer’s AWS environment—factoring in configurations, policies, and exposure surfaces—before validating them within a sandbox.

Ultimately, it relays prioritized, contextual intelligence back to the coding assistant, which adjusts its suggestions accordingly, according to AWS.

For new development, users can utilize the Continuum plugin integrated within Codex, Claude Code, or Kiro to obtain security-validated recommendations within their development milieu.

For pre-existing code, clients can identify vulnerabilities and execute remediation through AWS Continuum across varied environments.

“We are collaborating with Anthropic and OpenAI to embed Continuum within the coding workflows where code is generated,” stated Chet Kapoor, AWS’s Vice President of Security, Search, and Observability, in a recent blog entry.

Kapoor elaborated that each iteration of AI models introduces new functionalities, with distinct models excelling in specific tasks.

This diversity presents a challenge for security teams, as they must navigate increasing complexities while discerning which model holds the utmost relevance for a client.

“The subsequent challenge customers encounter is constructing the correct infrastructure and orchestration to transition these models into a unified interface that encompasses both detection and remediation,” Kapoor noted.

“This was our objective when developing Continuum, an integrative solution that harnesses various models to optimize effectiveness at each procedural stage.”
