In an unexpected turn of events, Apple has announced a reduction in the production of the iPhone Air due to a lackluster consumer response, as reported by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The electronics giant’s suppliers are anticipated to diminish their output capacity by over 80% from now until the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, certain components with extended lead times may face discontinuation by the end of 2025.
Kuo’s insights reveal that the underperformance of the iPhone Air indicates that the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models have already satisfied a significant portion of high-end user demand, leaving minimal opportunities for the emergence of new market segments.
Multiple reports have surfaced confirming the iPhone Air’s lack of traction among consumers. Last week, Mizuho Securities, based in Japan, suggested that Apple would cut iPhone Air production by a million units due to disappointing sales figures.
Earlier today, Nikkei reported that demand for the iPhone Air is “virtually nonexistent,” prompting a “drastic” reduction in production.
