Apple has unveiled the HomeView, a 7-inch smart display that merges Siri AI with comprehensive household controls, retailing at $299 in the United States.
This innovative device was announced on October 13, with pre-orders commencing in multiple markets ahead of its launch on November 13.
The HomeView integrates entertainment, FaceTime, home surveillance, and voice-activated automations into a singular device.
According to Apple, it can identify users through facial recognition, subsequently tailoring access to personal information found in Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My.
Apple HomeView: Marrying Home Control with Individualized Access
Equipped with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and a sleek aluminum exterior, the HomeView features a domed speaker base tethered by a robust stainless steel hinge.
Users have the flexibility to position it on a tabletop or opt for a wall-mounted variant, making it ideal for locations such as entryways or hallways.
Apple asserts that the integrated Siri AI represents an evolution of its digital assistant, boasting enhanced global knowledge, refined music exploration capabilities, and situational awareness.
When utilized in conjunction with an Apple Intelligence-enabled device, HomeView can leverage personal data such as calendar events and messages to deliver tailored interactions.
This innovative configuration transforms the display into more than a mere control interface. Apple envisions it as a communal household device that can seamlessly transition to cater to individual content preferences while facilitating smart-home functionalities within shared spaces.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, articulated that HomeView is “designed for collective use across the home while offering a deeply personalized experience for each user.”
He emphasized the device’s ability to recognize faces, support FaceTime, and simplify smart home control by tapping into personal insights derived from an iPhone.
