Apple Enhances Self-Service Repair Options for iPhone and Mac Models

Apple has expanded its Self-Service Repair Store to include replacement components and tools for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Additionally, parts for the M5 Max and M5 Ultra Mac Studio have been made available, along with components for the M6 and M5 Pro Mac mini variants.

This initiative follows Apple’s strategic growth in partnerships with numerous American suppliers, aimed at bolstering the availability of parts for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo.

Customers residing in qualifying regions can now procure necessary components to conduct self-repairs on their devices, which notably include the latest iPhone series.

Among the array of iPhone parts offered are:

  • Back glass
  • Batteries
  • Speakers
  • Cameras
  • Displays
  • Enclosures
  • Front cameras
  • Logic boards
  • Main microphones
  • SIM trays
  • Taptic Engines

In addition, Apple supplies all necessary tools and materials essential for each repair, comprising adhesive cutters, suction cups, nylon probes, adhesive removal tools, torque drivers, and screws.

The replacement camera is priced at $249, a cost consistent with that of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Notably, the iPhone 18 Pro models incorporate a novel variable aperture system.

Customers returning their original camera are eligible for a $59.76 credit, effectively lowering the replacement expenditure to $189.24.

Display replacements are set at $329 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $379 for the Pro Max. Apple extends modest return credits of $16.45 for the Pro model and $18.95 for the Pro Max when customers trade in their original displays.

Batteries can be replaced for $129 across both models. By returning the original battery, customers can receive a credit of $61.92, reducing the final payment to $67.08; however, the Pro Max battery is still marked as “Coming Soon.”

Back glass replacements are priced at $159 for either model, equating to $120.84 after applying the return credit.

The cost of a replacement front camera stands at $199, which drops to $151.24 with the corresponding credit. Furthermore, Apple offers the option to rent its repair toolkit for seven days at a cost of $49.

Apple has also broadened its parts catalogue for desktop Macs. The Mac Studio now features replacement options for Thunderbolt and USB-C ports, fans, speakers, SSD modules, logic boards, and power supplies.

Conversely, the Mac mini’s parts list is more concise, including fans, speakers, logic boards, and power supplies among its offerings.

Since its inception in 2022, Apple’s Self-Service Repair program has allowed customers to access authentic replacement parts and tools. Individuals in eligible regions are empowered to buy or rent the requisite equipment for supported repairs.

Apple's Anticipated Product Releases: M5 iPad Pro, AirTag 2, and Beyond

As an added resource, Apple provides comprehensive repair manuals that include detailed, step-by-step guidance for replacing supported components, enabling customers with the requisite skills to manage certain repairs independently, without necessitating a visit to an authorized service provider.
