Amazon Fortifies E-Commerce Export Framework in India
Amazon Global Selling India has intensified its collaboration with the government to bolster the e-commerce export ecosystem in the country. In a recent statement to ANI, Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head of Amazon Global Selling India, revealed that the company has signed new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with pivotal export and MSME organizations.
Strategic Partnerships for Export Growth
This year, a significant MoU was inked with the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), the premier body for exporters in the nation. “We are orchestrating a myriad of activities across diverse regions in partnership with them,” Kalvapudi explained in an exclusive interview.
The company is actively collaborating with various central and state government entities to establish India as a global e-commerce export hub. Moreover, an MoU was recently established with the MSME Commissionerate of Gujarat, he noted.

Kalvapudi emphasized that Amazon’s engagement with the government transcends a one-off initiative; it embodies a sustained collaboration. “Our efforts span easing compliance, establishing partnerships, and maintaining a presence in export and manufacturing clusters. It is an ongoing collaboration,” he articulated.

The company persistently advocates for the needs of e-commerce exporters, seeking governmental cooperation to tackle prevailing issues. Kalvapudi acknowledged the significance of government reforms in catalyzing the swift ascent of e-commerce exports, highlighting the Reserve Bank of India’s recent easing of EDP compliance norms as a prime example.
Recognition of E-Commerce Exports
“Exports have historically been revered as a cornerstone of economic growth. The government’s acknowledgment of e-commerce exports as a distinct category in 2023 illustrates its commitment to this sector. The RBI’s measures to simplify compliance have been pivotal,” he stated.
Technological Enablement for Growth
Kalvapudi further underscored Amazon’s dedication to leveraging technology to enhance exporter capabilities. “AI-driven technological advancements will prove indispensable in the upcoming years, impacting everything from listing and account management to inventory optimization.”
Currently, Amazon Global Selling grants Indian MSMEs access to over 18 international marketplaces, encompassing the US, UK, and various nations across Asia and Europe. “We believe it is merely the dawn of e-commerce exports in India,” he affirmed, reiterating Amazon’s commitment to collaborating with government and industry stakeholders to position India as a frontrunner in global digital trade.

Kalvapudi noted that the government’s focus on e-commerce exports has substantially enhanced the ease of conducting business. “This has been validated by the RBI’s facilitation of EDP compliance norms,” he remarked, highlighting Amazon’s ongoing efforts to streamline processes for exporters in partnership with regulatory authorities.
Industry Challenges and Competitive Landscape
When discussing the obstacles confronting the industry, Kalvapudi pointed out persistent issues related to compliance, logistics, and awareness. “Many small enterprises are newcomers to exporting and require guidance on documentation and adherence to global standards,” he noted.
Amazon and the government are collaborating to mitigate these challenges. In terms of competition, Kalvapudi observed a burgeoning landscape as more entrants emerge in the global marketplace.
Future Prospects in E-Commerce Exports

“Healthy competition fosters innovation and enhances operational efficiency,” he remarked, as he detailed Amazon’s emphasis on technology, customer trust, and seller success to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving digital export arena.
The government has set an ambitious target of achieving USD 1 trillion in merchandise exports by 2030, with USD 200-300 billion anticipated from e-commerce exports. Kalvapudi expressed Amazon’s ambition to play a substantial role in that goal, aiming for USD 80 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports by 2030.
Milestone Achievement
Earlier in the day, Kalvapudi announced that Amazon had already fulfilled its pledge of USD 20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports, surpassing its 2025 target. This milestone marks a decade since the inception of the Amazon Global Selling program in 2015.
