Alibaba Group Holding Limited Accelerates AI Ventures
Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA) is expediting its aspirations in the realm of artificial intelligence, introducing an economically viable coding tool designed to provide developers with access to some of China’s most sophisticated AI models amid escalating competition in AI-driven software.
Introduction of Low-Cost AI Coding Platform
Alibaba’s cloud division has launched a groundbreaking AI-infused coding platform that offers economical access to multiple premier Chinese AI models.
This innovative tool employs open-source frameworks, leveraging Alibaba’s Qwen 3.5 alongside contributions from Zhipu AI, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax.
Key Highlights:
- Flexibility in model switching under a singular subscription.
- A promotional lite version priced at 7.9 Chinese yuan ($1.15) for the initial month, followed by a fee of 40 yuan.
- The pro version is available for 39.9 yuan in the first month, escalating to 200 yuan subsequently, as reported by Bloomberg.
Development of an AI Chip to Counter Nvidia’s Dominance
In a concomitant move to bolster its AI architecture, Alibaba has unveiled a state-of-the-art, self-engineered chip, responding to U.S. export restrictions that inhibit China’s procurement of advanced Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) semiconductors.
The T-Head chip division has presented the Zhenwu 810E, a meticulously designed application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) tailored for AI training and inference tasks.
The chip boasts performance metrics akin to Nvidia’s H20 processor, specifically optimized for the demanding requirements of generative AI.

Alibaba Cloud has already integrated the Zhenwu 810E into extensive clusters comprising 10,000 units, catering to over 400 clients, including State Grid and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well asXPeng Inc.
