In recent years, Zepp has significantly broadened its Amazfit smartwatch portfolio, now presenting the T-Rex Ultra 2 as the successor to the T-Rex Ultra series launched in 2023, designed specifically for rugged wearers.
This fresh iteration introduces notable enhancements, most prominently a larger battery capacity, a more luminous display, and the inclusion of offline maps.
Most Rugged T-Rex Ultra Smartwatch
Examining the hardware, the T-Rex Ultra 2 preserves the characteristic octagonal bezel accentuated by exposed screws, imparting an audacious, tactical aesthetic.
Its frame primarily comprises titanium, inclusive of the back panel, ensuring a lightweight design despite the augmented battery (details forthcoming).
The buttons are constructed from titanium, while the middle shell utilizes a durable polymer. The smartwatch boasts a water resistance rating of 10 ATM, with diving certification up to 45 meters, and button testing ensures functionality up to 60 meters.

This design perpetuates the heralded rugged silhouette found in Amazfit’s collections, similar to the T-Rex Pro 3 previously evaluated.
Nevertheless, the Ultra 2 adopts a more expansive case size of 51 × 51 mm, marking it as the largest among its peers. In contrast, the original Ultra measured at 47 mm, while the T-Rex Pro 3 stood at 48 mm.
The newly minted rugged smartwatch is shielded with sapphire glass, covering a flat 1.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen that peaks at a remarkable brightness of 3,000 nits. This matches the T-Rex Pro 3 but surpasses its predecessor in luminosity.
Unlike traditional screen-based flashlight functions, the Ultra 2 is equipped with a forward-facing dual-tone LED flash that features SOS functionalities.
Despite its larger proportions, the Ultra 2 weighs in at 89.2 g (3.14 oz) with the silicone strap, similar to its predecessor and slightly heftier than the T-Rex Pro 3’s 76 g.
30 Days of Battery on a Single Charge
Internally, Amazfit has integrated a more robust 870 mAh battery, approximately 74% larger than featured in the original T-Rex, and 170 mAh more significant than the Pro 3, all while avoiding additional bulk.
This advancement affords users an astounding battery life of up to 30 days in smart mode and 28 hours of uninterrupted GPS or sports tracking—the longest endurance metrics within the T-Rex series. Such prolonged battery life proves invaluable for adventurers and avid outdoor participants.
Charging may take longer, yet Zepp indicates it replenishes in under three hours, a reasonable trade-off considering the extensive battery longevity.
Accompanying this, the watch now facilitates pre-installed offline topographic maps and boasts a storage capacity of 64 GB for maps and music tracks. Dual-band positioning and advanced navigational capabilities further augment its functionality.
Smartwatch Features on the T-Rex Ultra 2
The Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 is equipped with the BioTracker 5.0 PPG sensor, enabling comprehensive heart rate and vital signs monitoring. It also tracks sleep and stress levels extensively while providing insights into skin temperature and blood pressure measurements.
Athletes will benefit from newly introduced sports modes, including touring cycling, skydiving, paragliding, and freediving, adding to a repertoire of 170+ workout modes, of which eight feature automatic detection and pauses.
In terms of smartwatch capabilities, the device operates on Zepp OS 4.0 and comes pre-installed with the AI Zepp Coach, alongside support for mini apps. A microphone enables Bluetooth calling and remote camera control for iOS users.
Premium Pricing for the New T-Rex Ultra 2
The Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 is now available in key markets, including the United States. The smartwatch is offered in a singular titanium colorway, accompanied by various strap options.
It commands a retail price of $549 (€549 in Europe), which represents an increase of $150 over its predecessor, the original T-Rex Ultra, and last year’s T-Rex Pro 3.
