“If you were vibe coding, you would close your eyes and just ask for a house to be built,” he elaborated. “You wouldn’t examine the foundations, the subflooring, or the wiring.”
Using the construction metaphor, he elucidated that vibe coding mirrors the act of erecting a structure while neglecting to assess its supporting components.
“If you close your eyes and overlook the code, allowing AIs to piece together a system with shaky foundations, as you append additional layers, the entire edifice risks collapse,” he warned.
According to Truell, this methodology may be suitable for limited experiments, individual projects, or rapid prototyping endeavors where immediacy supersedes enduring stability. However, leveraging this mentality for production-quality or enterprise-level software introduces significant risks.
