Local Businesses Prepare for American Express Small Business Saturday

Commencing at 8 a.m. this Saturday, American Express Small Business Saturday promises to be the hallmark shopping celebration of the year, aiming to invigorate local enterprises.

The Fallon Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Churchill Entrepreneur Development Association, has orchestrated this annual event, incorporating a unique Fallon flavor. Enthusiastic shoppers are invited to visit the Old Post Office at 90 N.

Maine St., where they can obtain game pieces and discover exclusive local offers while perusing vendor booths. Complementing the shopping experience, free coffee and pastries will be courtesy of Telegraph Coffee & Tap and WaFd Bank.

“An impressive 67 cents of every dollar dispensed at small businesses across the U.S. remains within the community,” noted Lucy Carnahan, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce.

“This financial circulation fosters improvements such as enhanced educational facilities, well-maintained roads, and the creation of new employment opportunities throughout neighborhoods nationwide.”

Participants engaging in the Gurka In Business and Business Bingo games stand to win an enticing array of gift basket prizes. Social media enthusiasts can secure a raffle entry by snapping selfies with a Greenwave Gurkha in participating stores and sharing their photos with the hashtag #GurkaInBusiness.

Those playing Business Bingo will receive one stamp for each qualifying purchase at designated establishments.

Completed cards featuring a “bingo” must be submitted either to the Old Post Office or the Oats Park Art Center, located at 151 E. Park St., by 3:30 p.m. to qualify for the raffle drawing.

The Oats Park Art Center will also host the gift basket raffle drawings, alongside the finale of the Chamber’s year-long raffle, which features a Nevada-engraved fireplace and a s’mores kit as the grand prize.

The gift shop will open its doors, and a reception celebrating Candace Garlock’s “The Honeycomb Project” exhibition will follow.

Since its inception in 2010, Small Business Saturday consumers have collectively spent an estimated $223 billion across all observed Saturdays. This year, American Express plans to unveil the “Amex Shop Small Grants Program” in partnership with Main Street America.

The initiative will allocate an initial $5 million towards funding 250 grants of $20,000 each, available to eligible small business proprietors nationwide.

In addition, American Express will contribute an extra dollar for each qualifying purchase made with eligible cards throughout the day.

Detailed information and application resources will be accessible on Saturday via americanexpress.com and mainstreet.org.
