OnePlus Unveils OxygenOS 16: A Leap into Intelligent Mobile Experiences
OnePlus has officially launched OxygenOS 16, its highly anticipated software upgrade, which introduces an array of advanced AI functionalities, cross-platform capabilities, and a contemporary interface design.
This cutting-edge update is poised to debut on the forthcoming OnePlus 15 and will gradually roll out to previous models over the ensuing months.
Arthur Lam, the Director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy at OnePlus, articulated in a statement to iPhone in Canada, “OxygenOS 16 signifies a momentous evolution in the interaction between smartphones and their users.
Our ‘Intelligently Yours’ ethos underscores our dedication to formulating technology that not only executes commands but genuinely comprehends and adjusts to the unique needs of each user. By merging pioneering AI with our industry-leading performance, we aim to furnish an experience that is both profoundly personal and remarkably powerful.”
Central to this update is Plus Mind, an integrated AI hub designed to organize on-screen content and transform saved data into actionable reminders or events. Users can conveniently access Plus Mind via a new Plus Key shortcut or gesture.
It also integrates with Google Gemini, enabling users to generate context-sensitive responses based on stored content— such as requesting Gemini to formulate a home decor plan utilizing screenshots saved in Mind Space.
Additionally, the update introduces AI Writer for the creation of charts and captions, AI Scan for streamlined document digitization, and photo enhancements via AI Portrait Glow and AI Perfect Shot. Experimental offerings in AI PlayLab include innovative tools that transmute text into images and convert photographs into concise videos.
OxygenOS 16 further rolls out Parallel Processing 2.0, which allows new animations to initiate before previous ones conclude, ensuring a seamless transition experience. The update also enhances Seamless Cross-Ecosystem Connectivity, facilitating the effortless sharing and synchronization of data across Windows, macOS, and even Apple devices—including notifications from the Apple Watch and control over the OnePlus camera. This enhancement marks a significant stride for Windows and Apple users.
The revitalized design includes customizable themes, interactive widgets, and a redesigned notification interface dubbed Fluid Cloud, which offers support for third-party applications such as Spotify and various food delivery services.
In terms of privacy, OnePlus adds a Private Computing Cloud, which securely processes sensitive information directly on devices.

The software upgrade extends to OnePlus tablets, incorporating Open Canvas multitasking, allowing for up to five concurrently active applications, larger docks, and enhanced video editing features within the Photos app.
The forthcoming OnePlus 15 will come equipped with OxygenOS 16 right out of the box, while users of older devices can anticipate the update in the near future.
OnePlus asserts that the primary aim of OxygenOS 16 is to render smartphones more personalized and intelligent, merging “pioneering AI with industry-leading performance” in an effort to deliver its most sophisticated user experience to date.
