Apple’s iPhone 17 Series Sees Surging Demand in India
New Delhi: Apple’s recently unveiled iPhone 17 Air and 17 models are garnering exceptional demand in India, outperforming last year’s Plus and 16 series devices, according to various vendors and industry experts.
This enthusiasm is perceived as a significant advantage for the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, with the latest series rapidly depleting inventories nationwide.
Industry analysts predict that Apple is on track to achieve unprecedented festive season sales in India, anticipating a remarkable 28 percent increase year-on-year by 2025.
The tech giant achieved nearly $9 billion in sales last fiscal year, buoyed by rising disposable incomes and an increasing appetite for premium offerings.
In just the first week, sales of the iPhone 17 series outstripped those of the iPhone 16 series by 19 percent.
“The iPhone 17 Air, despite its elevated price point, is garnering greater traction than last year’s Plus model,” noted Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint Research. He emphasized Apple’s adeptness at capitalizing on India’s premiumization trend.
During this festive quarter, Apple is projected to exceed 4.5 million shipments, with the iPhone Air playing a pivotal role in this growth trajectory.
Prabhu Ram, Vice-President at the Industry Research Group (IRG), CMR, remarked that in a market typically dominated by value-for-money devices, premium smartphones are experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing disposable income among the burgeoning middle class.
“Apple’s progress is propelled by its formidable brand presence and intensified focus on manufacturing and retail within the market,” he stated.
The pricing for the iPhone 17 series starts at Rs 82,900 for the iPhone 17 (256 GB), while the iPhone 17 Air (256 GB) begins at Rs 119,900.
The iPhone 17 Pro (256 GB) has a starting price of Rs 134,900, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max (256 GB) starts at Rs 149,900.
The iPhone 17 Air showcases a lightweight yet robust titanium design, combined with enhanced durability provided by Ceramic Shield protection on both sides.

It features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion capabilities of up to 120Hz, powered by Apple’s state-of-the-art A19 Pro, N1, and C1X chips, ensuring improved performance and efficiency.
Its 48MP Fusion Main camera and an 18MP Center Stage front camera promise superior image quality.
Conversely, the standard iPhone 17 is equipped with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, the A19 chip, and a triple-lens camera system, which includes a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, further amplifying its photographic capabilities.
Moreover, India has emerged as a crucial element of Apple’s production strategy, with one in every five iPhones now being manufactured within the country.
