Proximity Media Appoints Terra Potts as Chief Marketing & Operations Officer
EXCLUSIVE: Proximity Media has officially designated seasoned marketing professional Terra Potts as its Chief Marketing & Operations Officer.
In this newly established executive role, Potts will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of marketing and communications across the company’s expansive film, television, unscripted, and audio divisions. Additionally, she will spearhead initiatives focused on operational efficiency, resource allocation, and organizational growth.
Potts will report directly to Proximity founders Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian, with her appointment taking effect immediately.

Potts has served as a consultant for Proximity over the past year, contributing to several notable projects, including the cinematic success Sinners, which amassed an impressive $365 million at the global box office. Her portfolio also includes work on Marvel/Disney+’s Ironheart and Eyes of Wakanda, alongside the National Geographic docuseries Hurricane Katrina: A Race Against Time.
Before her tenure at Proximity, Potts devoted over a decade to Warner Bros. Pictures, where she ascended to the role of Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. Her collaboration with Proximity’s founders commenced during the production of Coogler’s Creed, a film that earned $173 million globally and garnered an Academy Award nomination for Sylvester Stallone.
She later rejoined the Proximity team for Judas and the Black Messiah in 2021, which achieved six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. The film celebrated wins for Daniel Kaluuya (Best Actor) and H.E.R., D’Mile, and Tiara Thomas (Best Original Song), followed by her contributions to Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Among other notable campaigns Potts orchestrated at Warner Bros. are Crazy Rich Asians and 42, as well as projects from the Conjuring Universe, multiple DC properties, and Baz Luhrmann’s Academy Award-nominated film Elvis.
Potts commenced her career with awards strategist Lisa Taback, leading a campaign that garnered 11 Oscar nominations for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She was also part of the team responsible for launching Tyler Perry’s Medea and James Wan’s Saw franchises during her tenure at Lionsgate.
Her early career at Murray Weisman & Associates involved significant contributions, including the Oscar-winning campaign for Crash and the critically acclaimed documentary Fahrenheit 911.
