On October 28, IBM and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced the extension of their enduring collaboration, solidifying IBM’s status as the Official AI and Cloud Partner for the US Open until 2031.
USTA Partnership Enhances IBM’s Digital Role
This renewal arrives in the wake of an unprecedented 2026 tournament, during which IBM technology facilitated over 270 million interactions through USOpen.org and the US Open app.
For more than three decades, this collaboration has underpinned the tournament’s digital initiatives, starting with the website established in 1995 and the mobile application launched in 2009.
The innovations introduced in 2026 encompassed features such as Live Updates, Key Moments, and Serve Quality.
Both IBM and the USTA emphasized that these offerings leverage hybrid cloud and AI solutions to transform real-time match data into enhanced digital experiences for enthusiasts.
Kameryn Stanhouse, IBM’s Vice President for Sports and Entertainment Partnerships, remarked that the extension would elevate the technological landscape of the US Open experience for future attendees.
In parallel, Brian Ryerson, Senior Director for Digital Strategy at the USTA, affirmed the commitment to further developing digital engagement and enhancing fan services.
Unprecedented Reach Underpins Strategic Visibility
The USTA reported an impressive turnout of over 1.2 million fans throughout the tournament’s three-week duration, with more than 300,000 attending Fan Week alone.
Additionally, its proprietary social media channels achieved over 3.9 billion interactions and video views, reflecting a 26 percent rise compared to 2025.
For IBM, this agreement serves as a prestigious platform to exhibit its hybrid cloud and AI proficiencies, rather than a monetary boost to short-term fiscal results.

The announcement refrained from disclosing contract value or revenue forecasts, suggesting that the immediate financial projection remains intertwined with IBM’s broader endeavors in enterprise technology.
