Pixxel Secures $100 Million in Series C Funding Round
Bengaluru-based space technology startup Pixxel has successfully raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking a significant milestone as the largest single funding initiative by an Indian space-tech enterprise.
This funding round was spearheaded by the Singaporean investment firm Temasek, in collaboration with specialized space investment group Seraphim Space.
In addition to these primary investors, new participants 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joined the round, while earlier supporters Radical Ventures and growX Ventures also contributed.
With this latest capital infusion, Pixxel’s total funding has now reached an impressive $195 million.
Prior to this Series C round, the startup had amassed $95 million. In December 2024, it disclosed a $24 million extension that elevated its total Series B funding to $60 million.
Pixxel intends to allocate the newfound capital towards the enhancement of its satellite sensing capabilities, the development of Earth intelligence software, the establishment of sovereign Earth observation systems, and an increase in satellite manufacturing capacity within India and the United States.
The company is poised to advance its next-generation Honeybee hyperspectral constellation, which is designed to extend observational capabilities into the shortwave infrared spectrum. The inaugural Honeybee satellite is anticipated to launch in 2027.
Moreover, Pixxel seeks to integrate synthetic aperture radar and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging into its sensing arsenal.
Additional investments will facilitate the advancement of Aurora, Pixxel’s Earth intelligence software platform, which amalgamates diverse satellite datasets to produce actionable insights for decision-making purposes.
“Years ago, we set out to build a health monitor for the planet. With this investment, we now have the scale to turn that vision into planetary infrastructure. More ways of sensing, more intelligence from every image, and more sovereign capability for nations,” articulated founder and CEO Awais Ahmed.
Established in 2019 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, Pixxel initially concentrated on hyperspectral Earth observation satellites.
Hyperspectral imaging facilitates the acquisition of information across a multitude of narrow bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, thereby enabling the identification of materials and changes on the Earth’s surface with unprecedented detail compared to traditional imagery.
Pixxel currently operates six Firefly hyperspectral satellites, which it describes as constituting the world’s highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral satellite constellation.
Three Firefly satellites were successfully launched in January 2025, with an additional trio launched later that year.
This operational constellation provides imagery across over 135 spectral bands in both the visible and near-infrared spectrum, boasting a ground resolution of approximately five meters.
Furthermore, Pixxel has secured partnerships with various U.S. government agencies.
In 2024, NASA selected Pixxel as one of eight companies under its Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition initiative, enabling the agency to procure commercial Earth observation data for scientific analysis.
Additionally, in May 2026, the United States National Reconnaissance Office awarded Pixxel a contract under its Strategic Commercial Enhancements programme to evaluate commercial hyperspectral imaging capabilities.
Pixxel is also amplifying its manufacturing operations. The startup has previously announced that its forthcoming Gigapixxel facility will be equipped to support the production of up to 100 satellites.

This most recent investment occurs amid a burgeoning influx of capital into India’s private space sector, spurred by reforms that have opened avenues for greater private involvement.
