Apple is poised to make a resounding return this autumn with an exciting array of new iPhone models, potentially including its inaugural foldable iPhone, referred to as the iPhone Ultra, alongside various other hardware innovations.
This September’s event stands to be among Apple’s most consequential in recent memory. The unveiling of the long-anticipated iPhone Ultra promises to not only captivate audiences but also herald a transformative chapter for Apple under the leadership of CEO John Ternus.
Apple has officially announced that its forthcoming major event is scheduled for September 9, accompanying the announcement with the tagline “Surprise and shine.”
This will mark a significant milestone as it is the first major iPhone launch overseen by Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook as CEO earlier this month.
This year’s gathering may prove significantly more compelling than the typical iterative enhancements witnessed with previous iPhone and Apple Watch launches.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max

The standard iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and a speculated second-generation iPhone Air are not expected to debut this September, as Apple appears to be shifting those models to a spring 2027 release.
This leaves the more premium iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to headline this year’s event.
These models are anticipated to feature Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, engineered with a sophisticated 2nm process. Beyond mere performance enhancements, this chip could enhance power efficiency and bolster the company’s expanding ambitions in artificial intelligence.
However, the most substantial upgrades may manifest in the camera technology.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumored to incorporate a variable-aperture camera system. Unlike the fixed apertures typical of most smartphones, a variable aperture would allow the lens’s physical opening to adjust according to the ambient lighting conditions.
Theoretically, this innovation could provide the iPhone with greater control over exposure and depth of field.
