Positive Fresher Hiring Outlook in India for Second Half of 2026
New Delhi [India], August 10: According to a recent report by TeamLease EdTech, India’s hiring climate for new graduates appears robust for the latter half of 2026.
An impressive 75 percent of employers signal their intention to recruit fresh talent between July and December, a slight increase from the 73 percent seen in the immediate past semester.
The report identifies key sectors spearheading this hiring frenzy as e-commerce, technology start-ups, retail, and manufacturing. Notably, the demand for specialized and technology-driven roles continues to exhibit resilience.
Surveying 1,097 employers, the findings reveal that both e-commerce and technology start-ups, along with retail, boast a remarkable hiring intention rate of 93 percent.
Manufacturing follows suit with 89 percent. This fervent demand underscores a trend of ongoing digital integration, expansion into consumer markets, and industrial advancement.
Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) also emerged as a vigorous hiring domain, with 86 percent of employers expressing plans to onboard freshers in the current half-year.
Travel and hospitality sectors report an 81 percent hiring intention. Information Technology stands at 76 percent, while the power and energy sector registers 74 percent.
Engineering and infrastructure report 66 percent, and construction and real estate lag slightly behind at 64 percent.
The encouraging hiring forecast extends to telecommunications, marketing, advertising, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and media and entertainment industries, with hiring intentions at 61 percent, 59 percent, 54 percent, 53 percent, and 52 percent respectively.
Technology and emergent digital proficiencies remain pivotal in bolstering recruitment practices. Among the prominent entry-level positions highlighted in the report are AI Application Developer, Junior Semiconductor Design Engineer, and Data Centre Operations Associate, as well as Programmatic Advertising Associate and Inventory and Dispatch Executive.
The report further emphasizes a burgeoning demand for specialized skills, encompassing full-stack engineering, cloud security, business analytics, healthcare technology, and sustainability within the ESG framework.
This indicates a paradigm shift toward capability-based recruitment, wherein employers prioritize practical skills, digital acumen, adaptability, accountability, and critical thinking over traditional qualifications.
Additionally, the apprenticeship sector is poised for growth, particularly within manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, and IT, with hiring intentions for degree apprentices reported at 48 percent, 41 percent, and 27 percent, respectively.

In conclusion, the report indicates that while India’s entry-level job market is expected to flourish, the opportunities will likely be concentrated in sectors that are increasingly embracing digitalization, industrial growth, and technology-driven transformation.
