Ukrainian Drone Strikes Inflict Severe Damage on Wildberries
Ukrainian drone operations have inflicted substantial harm on Russia’s preeminent online retailer, Wildberries.
Satellite imagery from early August, analyzed by the US-based spatial intelligence firm Vantor, has unveiled extensive devastation across several facilities nationwide.
Photographs reveal that four Wildberries locations, spanning from the periphery of Moscow to the Black Sea, have either suffered significant damage or have been entirely obliterated due to these attacks.
Established in 2024, Wildberries is frequently likened to Amazon, providing a digital marketplace for merchants to retail products online.
Ukrainian authorities initiated strikes on Wildberries warehouses in July, aiming to undermine the Russian economy.
The company has been accused of indirectly facilitating Moscow’s military operations by offering military-related and dual-use commodities, such as tactical vests and drone flight-control goggles.
The Ukrainian defense ministry underscored this sentiment, declaring, “Russian logistics, dismantled one hub at a time,” in the wake of a drone strike.
Since mid-July, Ukraine has ostensibly deployed long-range drones targeting approximately 20 Wildberries facilities, resulting in extensive fires and towering columns of smoke. Reports indicate that at least a dozen casualties have arisen as a direct consequence of these assaults.
The Ukrainian defense entity Fire Point has confirmed that its FP-1 drones, designed to traverse hundreds of miles deep into Russian territory, have played a pivotal role in these operations.
Recently, Fire Point reported that one of its drones struck a significant Wildberries logistics center in Krasny Bor, adjacent to St. Petersburg, recognized as one of the foremost facilities in northwestern Russia, with a capacity to store over 57 million units.
Initial evaluations suggest that Wildberries has lost about 10% of its warehouse capacity due to the July strikes, and the economic fallout continues to escalate.
Preliminary estimates indicate that two separate attacks alone have led to losses of an astounding $1.8 billion in merchandise, underscoring the severe pressures faced by the company.
This concerted wave of drone strikes against Wildberries’ logistics hubs forms part of a larger Ukrainian strategy, which includes assaults on Russian energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian officials consistently characterize these actions as a method of implementing “long-range” sanctions against Russia.
In a simultaneous operation, Ukrainian forces have targeted the Yaroslavl oil refinery, one of northern Russia’s largest, boasting an annual refining capacity of approximately 15 million tons of crude oil.
The Unmanned Systems Forces, responsible for this strike, announced their ongoing mission to systematically impair Russia’s capacity to fuel its military initiatives.
As Ukraine amplifies its offensive, Russia has intensified retaliatory bombardments against Ukraine, particularly as Kyiv endures critical shortages in interceptor systems, compromising its defenses against ballistic missile launches.
The protracted conflict serves to highlight the escalating stakes and diverse tactics employed by both parties in this enduring struggle.
