In the rapidly evolving smartphone sector, time can often appear to stretch in unexpected ways. June and July are dedicated to Samsung’s innovative foldables, August heralds the arrival of Google’s Pixel devices, and by September, anticipation builds around Apple’s iPhones.
Recently, Google disclosed that the Pixel 11 series is set to debut on August 12. In a promotional teaser, the tech giant introduced a novel feature: Pixel Glow, which comprises a circular LED light available in a spectrum of hues, intended to serve as a notification indicator for the new handsets.
Pixel 11 Series Design and Colour Options
The Pixel 11 lineup is anticipated to comprise four distinct models: the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Design modifications are expected to be relatively minimal.
Google seems poised to maintain the horizontally oriented camera module characteristic of its slab devices; however, leaks indicate that the Pixel 11 Pro Fold may debut with an updated camera island, featuring a sleeker profile and cutouts positioned closer to the edges.
Sources suggest the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will offer a muted green shade dubbed Pine, along with a variant named Midnight. In contrast, the Pixel 11 Pro is projected to be available in four distinct colours: Dune, Light Fog, Pine, and Sterling.
Specifications and Performance Insights
The display sizes throughout the series are likely to remain largely unchanged from previous iterations.
The standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro are believed to retain 6.3-inch OLED screens, while the Pro XL is expected to feature a 6.8-inch display, and the Pro Fold is anticipated to sport a 6.4-inch cover screen accompanied by an 8.0-inch inner display.
The most significant advancements reside within the devices themselves. Each model is projected to be powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chip, a 7-core processor built on TSMC’s 2nm fabrication process—a considerable progression from the 3nm Tensor G5 used in the Pixel 10 series.
Furthermore, Google is likely to pivot away from Samsung’s modems in favor of MediaTek’s new M90 modem across the entire Pixel 11 lineup, potentially enhancing connectivity and battery efficiency. Expect the series to ship with Android 17 pre-installed.
Camera specifications remain somewhat elusive; however, it is conceivable that Google will retain the setup from the Pixel 10 series.
This would imply a configuration of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera for the Pro variants, while the standard Pixel 11 could feature a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10.5-megapixel telephoto camera.
Speculation also suggests enhancements like an ultra-low-light video mode, Cinematic Blur at 4K 30fps, a new video relighting feature, and an impressive 100x zoom capability.
Projected Pricing for the Google Pixel 11 Series
Regarding pricing, reports indicate that Google may contemplate an increase this year, driven by the ongoing memory cost crisis that has impacted the entire smartphone market.
To provide context, the Pixel 10 was launched in India at a price point of ₹79,999, with the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL retailing for ₹1,09,999 and ₹1,24,999, respectively, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold was priced at ₹1,72,999.
The Pixel 11 series is expected to mimic this pricing structure, if not exceed it, upon its imminent launch next month.
