Amazon India Reports Record-Breaking Prime Day 2026
Amazon India has unveiled that its tenth edition of Prime Day has set an unprecedented benchmark by becoming the fastest Prime Day in history.
In locations serviced by Amazon Now, a remarkable half of the items on promotion were delivered within mere minutes.
The surge in same-day deliveries exploded more than threefold compared to the previous year, with one in four Prime Day purchases reaching customers on the very same day.
Nearly 50% of all orders were delivered before the event’s conclusion, effectively extending ultrafast services to tier 2 and tier 3 cities, including Hoshiarpur, Ujjain, and Dharwad.
Expansion of Prime Membership in Tier 2 and 3 Cities
Over 70% of new Prime membership registrations stemmed from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, underscoring Prime’s deepening influence beyond metropolitan areas.
Customers reveled in exclusive advantages such as complimentary delivery on Amazon Now orders exceeding INR 99, enticing cashback offers, and the absence of transaction fees across all orders.
Almost half of all Amazon Now orders transcended the grocery category, branching out into diverse sectors, including:
- Cameras
- Personal care appliances
Significant Growth in Premium Categories
Prime Day 2026 witnessed substantial advancements in premium categories:
- Premium beauty products surged threefold year-on-year.
- Sales of premium grooming devices, priced above INR 2,500, doubled.
- Demand for premium televisions, costing over INR 35,000, doubled, with customers gravitating towards larger screens (65 inches and above).
- Premium travel luggage saw a 1.5X growth, led by brands such as Samsonite, Delsey Paris, Swiss Military, and Victorinox.
Aspirational Purchases Dominated by Tier 2 and 3 Cities
The trend of aspirational purchases was significantly influenced by tier 2 and 3 cities:
- Sales of two-wheelers increased by 1.65X year-on-year, with premium motorbikes priced above INR 1.5 lakh experiencing a surge of 2.3X.
- Seven out of ten buyers of Harley-Davidson, KTM, and Triumph motorcycles hailed from smaller urban centers.
- International home and kitchen brands grew 4.5X year-on-year in tier 2 and 3 cities, vastly outpacing national growth rates.
Adoption of AI-Driven Technologies
Customers increasingly embraced AI-enabled technologies:
- AI-powered PCs accounted for one in five Windows laptops sold.
- Innovative kitchen appliances, such as robotic vacuums and coffee machines, experienced growth of 4.3X.
- Smart water purifiers attracted double the number of customers compared to previous years.
Nearly half of all shoppers opted for Amazon Pay as their preferred payment method. One in four purchases across mobile devices, televisions, and large appliances utilized EMI options, with four out of five transactions executed through No Cost EMI.
Amazon Pay Later witnessed more than a 2.5X year-over-year increase, facilitating access to premium purchases.
Moreover, Amazon Business reported a staggering 3.6X growth in new customer registrations and a tenfold increase in Prime sign-ups.
Bulk purchases surged nearly 7X, powered predominantly by laptops, televisions, and headphones, as businesses capitalized on expedited delivery and early access.
Prime Day 2026 also featured an unprecedented level of participation from small and medium enterprises, with a record number of sellers exceeding INR 10 lakh in sales.
Notably, over two-thirds of participating SMBs hailed from tier 2 and 3 cities, highlighting Prime Day’s pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurship across Bharat.
Entertainment Highlights on Prime Video
During Prime Day, Prime Video unveiled an array of both Indian and international titles, featuring works such as Drishyam 3, Gram Chikitsalay, Karuppu, Project Hail Mary, The Sheep Detectives, and Your Fault: London.

The most noteworthy title was the critically lauded Prime Original series Raakh, which achieved the distinction of being the biggest debut for any Prime Original in the last two years.
The series captured the spotlight by trending #1 in 23 countries, breaking into the Top 10 in 60 countries, and garnering streams across 198 nations and territories.
