Amazon India to Augment Premium Beauty Portfolio by 2026

Amazon India has unveiled its ambitious plans to broaden its premium beauty offerings, aiming to incorporate over 100 new brands into its online marketplace by 2026.

This strategic move comes in response to the surging demand for international beauty products throughout the country.

Among the illustrious brands set to make their debut are Dolce & Gabbana, Laura Mercier, Elemis, Urban Decay, Aveda, La Roche-Posay, Eucerin, and Paula’s Choice, to name but a few.

Additionally, customers can expect a more diverse selection of beauty products hailing from Japan, Australia, and France, alongside an array of Middle Eastern fragrance brands.

The rollout of these premium brands is anticipated to commence in 2026, with a series of launches slated to coincide with Amazon’s highly anticipated Prime Day festivities in July.

This announcement emerges against a backdrop of notable growth, as Amazon India reports a staggering 50% year-over-year increase in its premium beauty segment, fueled by escalating demand from markets beyond metropolitan hubs.

More Than Half of Demand for Premium Beauty Originates from Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities

Amazon India has noted a significant shift in its consumer base, with over 50% of the demand for premium beauty products now emanating from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, including Thrissur, Dehradun, Patiala, Guwahati, and Kolhapur.

Siddharth Bhagat, Director of Beauty at Amazon India, remarked, India’s beauty landscape is witnessing a palpable transition from availability-driven shopping to a more intentional, discovery-oriented consumption model, prompted by an increased awareness of global beauty trends.

Premium beauty is registering a remarkable 50% year-over-year growth on our platform, with particularly robust demand for K-beauty and French pharmacy brands nearly doubling annually.

Bhagat further elaborated that more than half of this burgeoning demand is coming from tier-2 and tier-3 markets, indicating a strong aspiration for premium beauty products across diverse regions in Bharat.

He also highlighted that nearly 50% of beauty orders from India’s top 100 cities are now delivered within the same day or the following day.

Growing Adoption of International Beauty Categories in India

Amazon has observed that Korean beauty products and French pharmacy lines, including CeraVe, Avène, and Embryolisse, have seen nearly double growth year-over-year on the platform.

Furthermore, Middle Eastern fragrance brands such as Rasasi and Lattafa have experienced a remarkable threefold increase during the same timeframe.

The company also reported significant advancements in direct-to-consumer haircare brands and premium men’s grooming sectors, featuring multi-groomers and comprehensive grooming kits.
