Launch of Claude for Small Business
Introducing Claude for Small Business—a comprehensive package of connectors and preconfigured workflows that integrates Claude within the essential tools frequently utilized by small enterprises.
This initiative aims to empower business owners to leverage AI effectively and facilitate the completion of various tasks.
Small businesses constitute a significant 44% of the U.S. GDP and employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce. However, their engagement with AI technologies has not kept pace with larger corporations.
Most available tools and training lack customization to suit the operational modalities of small enterprises, often relegating their interaction with AI to mere chat functionalities.
In alignment with our public benefit mission, we are devoted to enabling business proprietors to harness AI in a more comprehensive and effective manner for their vital operations.
Claude for Small Business is a flexible installation that enables users to employ Claude within familiar applications like Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.
Utilizing these platforms, it can undertake a range of activities—from payroll planning to invoice tracking and marketing campaigns.
Small businesses represent nearly half of the American economy but lack the resources of their larger counterparts. AI is the pivotal technology that can help bridge this gap.
We’re excited to launch Claude for Small Business, accompanied by training and partnerships, to ensure AI delivers value to the entrepreneurs and communities that need it most.
Claude operates within the tools you already depend upon, easing the load of numerous after-hours tasks like payroll planning and invoice follow-ups.
Operational Mechanism
Activating Claude for Small Business within Claude Cowork allows you to connect your existing tools and select tasks for automation. Claude performs the work while you retain approval rights before any communication, payments, or postings occur.
This package includes 15 pre-configured agentic workflows spanning finance, sales, operations, marketing, human resources, and customer service.
It also offers 15 critical skills based on commonly reported repetitive tasks that hinder efficiency for business owners.
Examples of these functionalities include:
- Confident payroll planning. Reconcile your QuickBooks cash position with incoming PayPal transactions, create a 30-day financial forecast, prioritize overdue items, and send reminders for your approval.
- Flawless month-end closing. Reconcile accounts against settlements, highlight discrepancies, generate a simple, clear P&L report, and produce a closing packet for your accountant via Intuit QuickBooks.
- Business insight aggregation. Consolidate essential insights in one accessible page, featuring cash positions, sales trends, pipeline updates, and more.
- Campaign management. Identify revenue slowdown, evaluate HubSpot campaign performance, draft promotional strategies, and create marketing materials using Canva.
Additional capabilities include invoice tracking, margin analysis, month-end preparation, tax organization, contract review, lead triaging, content strategizing, and much more.
Integrating with Your Existing Tools
Via Claude Cowork, each connected application performs specific functions:
- PayPal facilitates transactions, invoicing, disputes, and refunds within Claude.
- Intuit QuickBooks manages payroll, monthly closing, and cash flow, assisting in tax preparations and reconciliation tasks.
- HubSpot oversees lead management, customer insights, and campaign tracking.
- Canva provides content generation for various channels with collaboration capabilities for teams, asset publishing, and performance monitoring.
- DocuSign streamlines contract management, status tracking, and filing of completed documents.
Commitment to Trust
A survey conducted among small business owners revealed that 50% cited data security as their primary concern regarding AI adoption.
With Claude for Small Business:
- You maintain oversight. Each task and workflow initiated within Claude requires your approval before execution.
- Your current permissions remain intact. If an employee lacks access in QuickBooks or Drive, they will not gain access through Claude.
- Your data is not used for training by default in our Team and Enterprise Plans.
AI Fluency for Small Business
Having the right tools is insufficient. Business owners and their teams must comprehend when and how to utilize these tools, yet many have not had adequate opportunities for education.
This need prompted a partnership with PayPal to create AI Fluency for Small Business, a complimentary online course designed to help small business owners effectively integrate AI into their operations.
Instructors include entrepreneurs who have successfully embedded AI into their workflows—such as Prospect Butcher Co. in Brooklyn and MAKS TIPM Rebuilders in California.
The course addresses the usage of AI in a safe, responsible, and ethical manner, guiding participants on recognizing suitable tasks for AI implementation.
“PayPal is proud to partner with Anthropic to empower small and medium-sized businesses to seize the full potential of the AI-driven economy.

Together, we’re equipping these entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, expertise, and trusted infrastructure to thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.” — Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal
The Claude SMB Tour
Commencing on May 14 in Chicago, we are embarking on a nationwide tour to promote Claude for Small Business.
This initiative is a complimentary, half-day live training event aimed at enhancing AI fluency, hosting up to 100 small business leaders at each location.
Along with partner Tenex.co, we will work with local partners in each city. Participants will receive a one-month Claude Max subscription to begin incorporating AI into their daily operations.
Upcoming spring locations include: Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose, and Indianapolis.
Gratitude is extended to the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the National Talent Collaborative for their collaboration during the pilot in March. Additional cities will be added in the fall.
Engaging with Nonprofits Focused on Small Businesses
As a public benefit corporation, Anthropic’s mission is rooted in ensuring that the advantages derived from AI are accessible to all individuals and communities, particularly those historically marginalized in technology adoption.
Small business owners, along with the local entities that support and guide them, are crucial to this mission. Consequently, alongside Claude for Small Business, we are forging partnerships that deliver Claude directly to business owners and the organizations facilitating their growth.
We envision AI as a transformative force for the smallest firms, including solo entrepreneurs. In collaboration with Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), we are endorsing the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program, set to commence in 2026, which will equip a select group of 15 aspiring solopreneurs with foundational funding from the Workday Foundation, Claude credits from Anthropic, and a curriculum centered on AI-driven entrepreneurship developed by LISC.
Additionally, small businesses thrive within a constructive ecosystem that includes access to capital. To this end, we are collaborating with three Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) that are integrating AI into their operations and services: Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, and Pacific Community Ventures.
With Claude credits and direct technical support from our team, these CDFIs are developing tools to facilitate funding for a broader range of small businesses.

Notably, Pacific Community Ventures is utilizing Claude to enhance its Radiant Data Hub—a shared resource among CDFIs—to gather voice-based feedback from its client businesses and their employees for service improvement.
