Teledyne FLIR OEM Unveils Innovative Prism C-UAS Software

Teledyne FLIR OEM has recently disclosed the launch of its latest product, the Prism C-UAS. This cutting-edge software stack is tailored to enhance detection and tracking capabilities, significantly surpassing the performance thresholds set by traditional systems, particularly against elusive, small drones.

The Prism C-UAS amalgamates patented thermal infrared imaging signal processing with advanced AI-driven perception technologies.

This revolutionary combination allows for the identification of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with as few as four pixels on target, thereby extending the operational window for deploying countermeasures before a potential threat gets too close.

The necessity for such an enhancement is increasingly urgent. The FAA has documented over 100 drone incursions per month near U.S. airports. Moreover, the Department of Homeland Security reported more than 60,000 drone flights detected near the U.S.–Mexico border during the last six months of 2024.

Delving into its technical specifications, Prism C-UAS employs patented denoising, local contrast enhancement, and upsampling algorithms.

These innovations work in tandem to augment the target signal-to-noise ratio and widen the detection range for moving targets.

Once a drone is detected, the system engages an AI-powered object detector and a multi-object tracker, minimizing false positives and ensuring continuous tracking, which is particularly beneficial for swiftly maneuvering drone targets.

“In the contemporary C-UAS landscape, software has emerged as a pivotal performance differentiator,” remarked Jared Faraudo, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR OEM.

Prism C-UAS facilitates sub-two-by-two-pixel drone detection and tracking, markedly enhancing detection range compared to conventional systems.

It embodies our commitment to vertical integration and domain acumen, converting raw thermal data into actionable insights for current, layered defense infrastructures.

From an integration perspective, Prism C-UAS is engineered to natively support data from Teledyne FLIR OEM’s Boson+ and Neutrino IR camera lines, along with select commercial off-the-shelf visible cameras for multispectral configurations.

The software aims to mitigate integration risks and facilitate deployment across diverse C-UAS architectures on a global scale.

Global Market for Manufacturing Operations Management Software Projected to Reach $69.8 Billion by 2032

Teledyne FLIR OEM is showcasing the Prism C-UAS at the SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing 2026 event, which is being held from April 28 to 30 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
