Spotify is dedicated to enhancing your listening experience, ensuring it remains both intuitive and personalized at any time of the day.
Whether you are streaming your go-to playlist during work hours or perusing fresh recommendations on the move, every interaction with Spotify should feel effortless and accessible.
Recognizing that tablets are often utilized in more casual settings, such as on a sofa or kitchen counter—where additional screen space can be advantageous—we have seized the opportunity to reinvigorate the Spotify experience.
Today, we unveil a newly designed app experience specifically for tablets, crafted to make listening, watching, and discovering content feel more organic on larger displays.
A More Intelligent, Dynamic Design
The revamped tablet interface, available for both iOS and Android platforms, aims to deliver a more cohesive experience across various devices where Spotify is accessed.
Rather than merely enlarging mobile features, the tablet design exploits the added space, allowing you to explore and unearth new favorites while enjoying your current selection. Moreover, any enhancements made to the mobile app will quickly extend to tablet users.
“From television to desktop to automotive interfaces, we have meticulously designed Spotify to resonate with each screen,” stated Nicole Burrow, Head of Design, Consumer Experience, Spotify.
“Tablets afford a greater expanse for exploration, so we have tailored the interface to facilitate browsing and discovering new gems while enjoying what’s currently playing. The objective is straightforward: wherever you access Spotify, it should undeniably embody Spotify.”
What’s New
- Adaptive Orientation: The interface intelligently reconfigures—not merely resizes—as you transition between portrait and landscape modes, creating a balanced and purposeful experience in either orientation.
- A Collapsible Sidebar: This new feature allows you to browse and discover content while playback continues, and can expand for a more focused experience. It also offers interactive, scrollable elements, enabling exploration without interrupting your current media.
- An Enhanced Video Experience: The “Switch to Video” toggle is now prominently displayed, simplifying the transition to a more immersive viewing experience.
- Parallel Browsing: Continue playing music or video on one side of the screen while exploring your library or recommendations on the other.
- A Familiar Feel: The fundamental navigation remains consistent, ensuring a seamless transition from mobile to tablet. The bottom navigation bar provides easy access to main sections, while the collapsible side drawer offers quick entry to your profile and settings.

This update transforms your tablet into an enhanced venue for discovering music, podcasts, audiobooks, and videos. It represents yet another stride toward a more integrated Spotify experience, adaptable to the devices you currently use and those you will utilize in the future.
