RSMonials is a Joomla Component that works natively in Joomla environment. This is a very simple and user friendly testimonial component. Using this component you can easily able to accept comments / feedback / review / testimonials from your clients or visitors. This is a free component. The features included:

Front End:

  • Display all active testimonials / comments / feedback / review.
  • Visitor can submit a feedback.
  • If you approve the feedback from back-end it will start to display.
  • Secured form by Captcha. (Re-Captcha Enabled).

Back End:

  • Add Testimonials.
  • Edit Testimonials.
  • Delete Testimonials.
  • Publish/Unpublish Testimonials.
  • Manage Front-end display using CSS.
  • Manage Language Specific Content.
  • Easily configure the basic features of the component.

How To Use the Component (Steps):

  1. Download and Install this Component. If you are Upgrading this Component please read the next point.
  2. In case of Upgrade just unistall the previous version first and then install the new version. Do not worry, this process will not delete any “Testimonial” that you have already in your website. But you need to re-configure your settings once again. After you install the new one please access this component and configure the “Settings” and “Language” tab as per your needs. That’s all.
  3. Now go to “Components” => “RSMonials”
  4. Access “Testimonials” tab to Add/Edit/Delete/Publish/Unpublish your testimonials.
  5. Access “Settings” tab to set some basic settings. You can set the following settings:
    1. Name of Administrator
    2. Email Address of Administrator
    3. Display “Testimonial Submission Form” in front end or not.
    4. Show/Hide “About You” field.
    5. Show/Hide “Your Location” field.
    6. Show/Hide “Your Website” field.
    7. Show/Hide “Image Upload and Display” field.
    8. Enable/Disable Captcha Verification.
    9. Enable/Disable ReCaptcha Library.
    10. On/Off Automatic approval of newly submitted testimonials.
    11. Enable/Disable Pagination.
    12. Set how many testimonial will display in a page.
    13. Manage alignment of the pagination text.
    14. On/Off “Administrator Email Alert” for newly submitted testimonials.
  6. Access “Display Style” tab to set some basic display style settings. You can set the following settings:
    1. Border Style of Testimonial Display Block.
    2. Background Color of Testimonial Display Block.
    3. Style of Quotation Images.
    4. Default image for testimonials in no image is found.
    5. Image Position.
    6. Image Width.
    7. Show/Hide Date.
  7. Add one Menu Item to display RSMonials component in front-end:
    1. Go to “Menus” => “{YOUR-MENU-NAME}”
    2. Select “New” button from top-right of the page.
    3. Now select “Select Menu Item Type” => “Internal Link” => “RSMonials”.
    4. Then add “Title” of the menu and click “Save” button at the top-right of the page.
  8. If your website is MULTILINGUAL OR if your website is not in ENGLISHOR if you want to modify the text that is displaying in the front end then please do the following steps:
    1. Go to “Components” => “RSMonials” => “Language”.
    2. Then select the proper language file from the list and “Edit”. That’s all.
    3. If you think you made some mistake and the component is not working properly for that mistake, then just click the “Restore” button of the language file. It will again restore the default settings in the language file. Then again you can edit that as per your requirement.
  9. If you notice that the image uploading is not working in your website, that should be the permission issue. To solve this issue just login to your server using FTP account and then change the permission (CHMOD) of “/components/com_rsmonials/images/” folder to “777″ or “755″. Hopefully this will solve the issue.
  10. That’s All. Now your testimonials will display in the front end. Site visitors now also able to submit their testimonials.

Now 2 modules are also available to use with our RSMonials component:

  1. RS-Monials Module: Using this module you can able to display testimonials randomly or serially.
  2. RS-MonialScroller Module: Using this module you can able to display all of your testimonials in a module position with auto scroller.

Unfortunately for me, I’m unable to use this component. The installation works fine, but after, I am unable to post any new testimonials — both “Submit Testimonial” and “Cancel” have no effect when clicked.

On all parts of the component, I continue to have “Strict Standards” errors, and have already disabled display_errors and set error_reporting to E_ALL & ~E_STRICT. The settings are seen effective in Joomla’s PHP Information page.

Any suggestions? Out of *all* testimonials components/modules, I absolutely love the look of yours the best and would appreciate the opportunity to test it out. Thank you so much!

RSMonials module is designed so it will display only one testimonial at a time. If you wish to display multiple testimonials then you can use the RSMonials Scroller module.

    Thanks for the great component!

I am trying to turn off the page heading as I want to replace this with a banner. I have set the page display options in the menu item to exclude the heading and have set the language file parameter to RSM_PAGE_TITLE=”" … and cleared the browser and back-end cache. The previous page title is still showing. Any ideas?

My website is multi-lingual. Supports Russian and English.
I installed your plug in and its really fabulous. Thanks.

However, it is not supporting Russian language comments. When users try to post comments in Russian, i am seeing Junk in the back end.
Could you please provide me a solution for this?

You need to change the collation of the database table so it can store Russian characters. Database table called “#__rsmonials”. Here #__ can be any value. Edit the properties of the table and set the “Collation” properly.

in testimonials.I corrected lang file and on display all ok,but testimonials has “??????????” Would you mind, what I need to do?

    Reply

    • Souvik Says:

You need to change the “Collation” of the database table. Please go to your server’s database manager section and then go to the database where Joomla is installed. Here you can find one database table called “#__rsmonials”. Here #__ can be any value. Then edit that table properties and set the “Collation” properly.

Is it possible to have the “view more” link that shows in the module display the remaining text that is hidden when you limit the number of characters?

Sometimes people leave very long reviews and that just looks awfull

    Reply

    • Souvik Says:

You can limit the character in the module and set the “View more” so when anyone click on it it will go the main testimonial page to show your all testimonials. Unfortunately the option you are looking for is currently not available.

Excelent, simple design. Realy clever and simple thingie. Thank You! :)
Was easy to translate and use lang texts while in backend. Nice.

One minor problem only. Was not able to found setting to switch off testimonials creation date display, and later after translating EN to other language, while in testimonial post date`s month still displays english e.i. september instead of septemberinotherlanguage

    I know it might be overrided in ext>lang>overrides but quick and dirty change in rsmonials.php helped to be it more international friendly :) $dateView = strftime(“%Y-%m-%d”, $timestamp);

But that was minor problem :)

In your case there should be some permission issue. Please try to set “755″ permission to “/components/com_rsmonials” and “/components/com_rsmonials/includes” folder. Then let us know the status.

    Hi,

Great component, I just have a few issues.

    - The module scroller, doesn’t have any space between the testimonials that scroll. So for example, right below the date field in a testimonial when it begins to scroll up, the text for the next testimonial starts on the line right below the text of the previous one which gives the illusion that the two testimonials are part of the same record until the testimonial stops scrolling to view.

    - second, how do you change the text that is displayed in the testimonail? (Date of Post:) I’d like to change that to just Date.

    - third, I turned on the rounded corners feature but it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve viewing in FF.

    thanks.

    • Souvik Says:

      1) Try to increase the height of the scroller a bit. This may solve the issue.

      2) Go to “Joomla Admin Panel” => “Components” => “RSMonials” => “Language File”. Then edit the respective language file as per your needs.

      3) For this you need to provide us the URL of your website so we can review it.

    Reply

    • Souvik Says:

The module will display one single testimonial at a time. But it will display all of your specified testimonials serially or randomly one after one after each page refresh.

If you need to display more than one testimonial at a time then use “RSMonials Scroller” module.

    Hi,

I love the concept of the extension and it is really funny that I am just now finding it. It is highly configurable and that is great too.

I do not see a way to categorize testimonials. There are many situations where it would be nice to separate testimonials by products, offices, people, etc.

Are you willing to customize if for us? For general release? Please consider it.

Hi! First off, I would like to congratulate you for a really great product! RSMonials surely covers almost everything I need for a testimonial! Congratulations to the developer. I only have one issue though. As I mentioned earlier, RSMonials covers ‘almost’ everything I need. I think what is missing is for the testimonial to be ‘responsive’, that is, to be perfectly viewable on smartphones and iDevices. I tested the RSMonials I installed on http://mattkersley.com/responsive/ and found that the component overlaps the RSMonials module. The component also is not able to display the testimonial message if viewed in a smartphone or an iphone. I hope RSMonials developers would do something about this since the future of the web is leaning towards responsive websites and pretty soon, it may become the ‘web standard’. To see what I mean please try viewing http://www.rswebsols.com/demo/rsmonials at the field provided at http://mattkersley.com/responsive/ or any responsive website testing URLs and you will surely see what I mean. I really do hope you can do something about this. Thank you very much for reading through my post. :)

    Regards,

    Janmeir
