  9. If you notice that the image uploading is not working in your website, that should be the permission issue. To solve this issue just login to your server using FTP account and then change the permission (CHMOD) of “/images/com_rsmonials/” folder to “777” or “755”. Hopefully this will solve the issue.
  10. That’s All. Now your testimonials will display in the front end. Site visitors now also able to submit their testimonials.

    I wrote a testimonial in Greek Language, but the testimonial showed not greek characters but only question marks (???????? ??????????????? ?????????????) on the website’s rsmonials scroller as well as to the rsmonials page. What can I do?

    Reply

    • Souvik Banerjee Says:

      It seems you need to set the collation of the database table properly so it will work for Greek language. The database table name is “#__rsmonials”. And “#__” can be any prefix as per your database configuration.

    It would be nice to include a “Subject” line item so that the testimonials would show something similar to the way Amazon ratings appear.

    Thus, a testimonial would have a Subject Line: “Highly Recommended!” Rating: *****
    And then the actual Testimonial “Wonderful book and I’m recommending it to all of my friends!”
    And then the rest.. Posted By… etc.

    Hi
    This is a great component but can you tell me how to get it to display the most recent testimonial first on the testimonial page? At present it is showing in the order that they are added.
    Thanks

    • Souvik Banerjee Says:

      By default, most recent testimonials always shows first. Please recheck once. Go to “Joomla Admin” => “Components” => “RSMonials” and then check the “Date of Posting” of your testimonials. Otherwise please provide us the URL of your testimonial page so we can look into it.

        thanks! i managed it although i was not able to find the right place to change the same field in the admin area. (i cant edit testimonials on the backend with an email… ) can you tell me wha i have to edit?

        Also, i want to pre populate the name field with the name of the user (logged in), i created the variable name1 and populate the variable using JFactory, then i want to use value=”” on the form but it is not working.

        If i change the above code for any fixed text like “demo name” then it works, but somehow i am not being able to echo the variable on the form.

        PS: i tested it on other areas of the file and it works, but when i try to use the variable in the form, it does not work.

        Any ideas why?

        Done. It worked but not i can´t edit the testimonials on the admin side. Because the field is there and its an obligatory field. Can you direct me how to fix that side of the problem?

        By the way, i translated the front side to Portuguese, do you guys want the file? to make available to other users.

      To resolve your issue, just do the following;

      1) Go to /components/com_rsmonials
      2) Backup your rsmonials.php to your pc
      3) remove the below line:

      ========= start of code ====
      :*<input name="email" id="email" type="text" maxlength="100" class="RSWS_form_input" value="” />

      ======== End of code =====

      Please note that I am not a programmer nor know php very well but this worked just fine for me and without breaking anything!

      Honestly, I am not sure why Souvik couldn’t just give you the information you requested without trying to direct you to the paid support especially when the option to ‘Require or not require’ a filed should’ve been easily added to this great free extension option! If your issue was related to your Joomla or server issues, then I would understand him directing you to paid support!

        We always provides free support for bugs/errors. We also provides free support for anyone who are not understanding how to use our extension or how to configure it properly. But for a free extension it is very difficult to provide free support for custom changes. Please do not mind.

    Established this wonderful module RS-Monials Module, happy with everything, that’s just the problem. Can someone tell me how to change the color of text in the form of reviews? Advance all grateful :)

    • Souvik Banerjee Says:

      To change in css style you need to go to “Joomla Admin” => “Components” => “RSMonials” => “CSS File”. Then edit the css file as per your needs.

      As you mentioned, to change the text color in the form you can add the following code at the end of the css file:

      div.RSWS_testi_block_form { color:#FFFFFF; }

      Note: Here #FFFFFF means ‘White’ color. You can change it to any color as per your needs.

      Joomla recommends to set “display_errors” to “Off” in php configuration file (php.ini or php5.ini). Please check your server’s php configuration file. And if currently “display_errors” is set to “On”, please set it to “Off”. This will solve the issue.

      Do you added the menu item of RSMonials component? If not please add one menu item by choosing RSMonials as “menu item type”. Then access that menu item from front-end.

      To change the text color of “RSMonials Scroller Module” to “WHITE” you need to add the following css code in your template’s css file:

      div.rsmsc_scroller_class { color: #FFFFFF !important; }

      Note: Here #FFFFFF represents white color. If you wish you can change it to any other color.

    Hi. I’ve installed RSMonials 2.2 in my site, but there is a problem, the link “Read more” or “leer más” doesn’t work. It directs me to the home page. How can I configure this?

    • Souvik Banerjee Says:

      Just go to “Joomla Admin” => “Extensions” => “Module Manager”. Then edit the module “RSMonials Scroller”. In the module parameter you can find one option called ” ‘View More’ URL “. Here you can set the link as per your needs.

      For the moment, I was able to add a starts rating (a single image for 5 stars) by replacing the default no image item in the images directory with one using 5 stars. I then set the component to use the default image when none is uploaded and now I at least get a 5 star rating on every post…

    I love this component. It works great for simple text testimonials. However, it would be great to add support for video testimonials. Is it something that can be done? Most clients record short video clips for testimonials.
